A slightly toyful post :]

Wanted to blog since its a long weekend :D! I have lots of works from  background design course and character sculpting,  but I think Ill just upload all of them at once after the term is over. I also recently finished modeling a car in Maya (after many days of hair pulling and intense modeling sessions). My final project in modeling class is to design a character and model it (organically)...oh god, I can already foresee lots of hair pulling and shoot-me-nows.

I know, I know...I always post pictures of this case, BUT this time I really updated my collection. I finally took my to-fu set and other stuff out of their boxes...kind of had to do some rearranging to fit everything in.

All my To-fu oyakos released from their boxes!

A bit hard to see, but from the left; hello kitty x rement and hello kitty x tokidoki set added to collection. Also got some more uglydoll figures. The spongebob plushies were from like...6 years ago. I went to an amusement park with my friend and we pretty much emptied out the spongebob claw machine.

Just wanted to share whats in the pencil pouch I carry to school everyday (its getting fatter...)
From left to right. Top row:
(1) Tombow hi-precision drafting pencil. omg best drafting pencil i've found yet. I've been drafting with a mechanical pencil and its nothing compared to the Tombow drafting pencil.
(2) Tombow two-sided marker (?), its got a super nice soft brush tip on one side and a smaller hard tip on the other.
(edited: forgot to add white out and mini tape dispenser)
(3) Two Faber Castell felt tip pens (i have a bunch of these at home)
(4) Sharpie felt tip pen - good for writing
(5) two Prisma color pens (not bad but I prefer Faber Castell)
(6) Paper mate Tuff Stuff eraser stick (basically a very thin eraser), super good for erasing small details. Probably one of the most useful thing i've bought.
(7) Pental Clic eraser - kinda useless
(8) Xacto knife - for cutting everything
(9) Staedtler graphite pencils- I don't use these much.
(10) (top) wooden cube for reference when doing perspective drawings (i drew a face on it out of boredom)
(11) (bottom) kneaded eraser. im paranoid when it comes to smearing my drawings so kneaded erasers are the best for erasing details without needing to brush eraser bits off with your hand
(12) Prismacolor pencil sharpener. Best hand-held sharpener i've used.

Bottom row
(1) Two mechanical pencils. These are the fancy mechanical pencils that I always ended up loosing (back in highschool). I hate writing with normal pencils.
(2) Graphite stick pencil- i dont use this much
(3) Staedtler Noris-Stick (germany). I found a bunch of these pens at home and they're CRAZY. None of them had caps but they still work amazingly well. Its SUPER smooth and ink never dries out. Funny thing is, its called "Noris" ....it is indeed the chuck norris of all pens...
(4) Charcoal pencil
(5) 4 prisma col-erase pencils. all animators will understand this...
(6) Utretch design marker - light grey. Good for quick toning
(7) A pen that i dont use often
(8) 0.7 mm lead.

Tools in my sculpting bag (except for the alcohol)
From left to right (sort of):

(1) 91% isopropyl alcohol ..for smoothing and sometimes sculpting
(2) Two brushes, hard and soft brush for smoothing with alcohol. Finally found the perfect cheap hard brush at Michaels!
(3) Super sculpey ...but i'll be using sculpey firm from now on because its too hard to do detailed work
(4) Two cute little containers I recently bought at Michaels. Ill be using one for carrying alcohol (for sculpting!!)
(5) Plastic sculpting tools...they're pretty much 80% useless because they stick to the clay, the only good thing about them is that they are flexible, so its good for sculpting certain areas without pushing in the clay too much. They were expensive too -__-
(6) 18 gauage wires for armature, other two are for armatures as well
(7)  Wire cutter
(8) Metal sculpting tools. Got the entire set from Blicks for only 8.99 or so. Extremely useful, doesnt stick to clay.
(9) Wood sculpting tools- only useful for pushing and pulling clay when building the form.
(10) Two sided soft rubber tip for details. I don't use it much...

A digital painting I did as a Mothers Day gift for my mom. Its based off of an old family portrait that my parents always carried in their wallets.

Figure drawings. I've always been lazy about attending studio on friday nights..but good thing I've promised a friend to attend with her every other friday. Now I don't have any excuses to not go :P They're actually quite relaxing and fun.

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket I think these were 1 minute drawings. Didnt draw fast enough... Photobucket

Some were 5 minute drawings, some 15 minutes, some 20 minutes .. My first time doing figure drawings entirely in pen. I realized I was too obsessed with erasing my drawings and my shading always turned out terrible cause I had trouble grouping my values. With a pen, I can practice limiting and grouping my values. It also stops me from being too concerned with line work. As you can see in the drawings, im still quite unconfident

Saw this hilariously awesome Bob Ross 'mourning' tshirt at threadless. OMG I must buy.

I've been trying to find a safe and good quality baby toy for my niece (or 2nd cousin) in Hong Kong. Came across these toys made with very soft and high quality materials (sorry I cant remember where they're from). Thought the designs were extremely cute.

Simple and cute cereal dispensers! I want to get one just for decorative purposes. They're not that expensive either ($21). You can buy them here

Wooden birds made from recycled wood from old tables. I love how its got a sense of history to it. The simplistic designs are appealing and modern. Its something my parents would definitely buy if they saw it in stores.
